Meaning

In Appalachian and rural Southern talk, the house means home. You head to the house after work, leave tools at the house, or tell somebody to come by the house. It can also mean the main dwelling versus the barn or shed. Older folks sometimes used it for the outhouse, but that sense has mostly faded.
