Origin and etymology

Southern and South Midland form of jagged, recorded in the Dictionary of American Regional English. Ulster and Donegal glossaries have jaggedy/jaggety for rough or torn edges, which fits the Scotch-Irish trail into Appalachia. Appalachian writers still use it for frayed cloth and uneven cuts.
