Most folks say gussied up. Means somebody got cleaned up and put on their good clothes, maybe a little extra shine than they needed. In redneck talk you hear it before church, a wedding, or any night somebody's tryin' to look like they own more than one pair of boots. Can land as a compliment or a gentle ribbing that you overdid it.
How folks use it

- “Don't get too gussied, we're just goin' to the feed store.”
Origin and etymology
