/FIX-in hair/
Meaning
Means brushing, curling, pinning, or otherwise preparing your hair before you go somewhere. Same Southern "fix" you hear in "fix supper" or "fix your face." Outsiders sometimes think somebody broke their hair. Locals know it just means getting presentable.

- “I ain't going to town till I finish fixing my hair.”
Origin and etymology
Comes from the older sense of fix meaning prepare or arrange, strong in Scotch-Irish influenced Southern English. That same root feeds "fixin' to" and "fixing supper." Grooming talk just borrowed the prepare sense for hair.
